The present geographical Sundarbans National Park had been declared as the core area of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in the year 1973 and a wild life sanctuary in 1977. The place is also popular among the tourists for the presence of salt water crocodile. The Park attained the status of a National Park on 4th May 1984. Sundarban is located in between 21° 32’- 21° 55’ N latitude and 88° 42’- 89° 04’ E longitude in the Indian state of West Bengal. The park being situated at an average altitude of 7.5m above sea level experience most soothing climate.
